The Cameroon National Football Academy (ANAFOOT) is preparing to thrill the city of Bertoua with exciting football, but above all, with a focus on quality medical care.
From July 18 to 26, 2026, the municipal stadium in the capital of the East Region will host the sixth edition of the prestigious « Regional Talent Tournament. »
This major annual competition will bring together the 200 best young players from the institution, aged 17 to 20 (U17 to U20 categories), divided into ten teams of twenty players from the country’s ten regional centers.
While the primary objective remains the identification of elite players and technical evaluation, the health and physical well-being of these future professionals are more central than ever to the event.
A Pillar of Public Health and Healthy LivingIn a modern context where sedentary lifestyles and unhealthy behaviors threaten young people, ANAFOOT reaffirms its role as a safeguard through a rational, highly structured, and scientifically monitored approach to football. This tournament in Bertoua is more than just a tactical competition. It represents the culmination of a strict medical monitoring protocol, rigorous athletic preparation, and comprehensive education in healthy living.
For athletes in their growth phase (U17 to U20), the intensity of this tournament, overseen by national experts, promotes optimal cardiovascular development, strengthens bone structure, and improves endurance. But beyond the direct physiological benefits, the competition profoundly shapes the mental health of these young footballers.
It instills in them essential self-discipline: meticulously respecting sleep cycles, maintaining a balanced diet, optimal hydration, and avoiding harmful substances. Through the valuesof civic responsibility, citizenship, and ethics promoted by the Academy, ANAFOOT fosters healthy minds in healthy bodies, protecting these dynamic young people from the risks of anxiety through the strength of teamwork.
Injury Prevention and Physical Load ManagementThe Bertoua tournament also serves as an excellent testing ground for assessing the resilience and recovery capacity of young athletes. Competing in an intense format (ten teams divided into two groups), the players learn to intelligently manage their physical resources.
ANAFOOT’s coaching staff prioritizes optimizing post-exercise recovery processes, a critical skill for ensuring the longevity of a high-level athlete’s career.
Preventing sports injuries remains the cornerstone of this edition. Thanks to rigorous physical assessments conducted before hand in each regional training center, only players in peak physical condition were selected to take to the field. During the competition, individualized medical monitoring will help prevent overtraining and actively educate teenagers about paying close attention to their bodies’ signals.
A springboard for the future and sustainable social well-beingBeyond its essential health benefits, the competition offers unique visibility. A committee of experts will analyze each match to compile a list of the best talents, who will be presented and drafted for the fourth time in Cameroon to elite clubs.
By offering thousands concrete and professional opportunities for success to the of young people trained since the institution’s creation by presidential decree, ANAFOOT makes a decisive contribution to their psycho-social development.
Who will succeed the Far North, winner of the 2024 and 2025 editions?
The competition will kick off on Monday, July 19, 2026, at 3:00 pm at the Bertoua Municipal Stadium, opening a week where talent, performance, and health will work together towards excellence.
