The Northwest Regional Technical Group (RTG) responsible for the fight against HIV/AIDS held its second-quarter 2026 coordination meeting on Friday, July 31. This strategic gathering brought together all the major stakeholders in the regional health response with a clear objective: to rigorously assess the progress made, identify operational weaknesses, and intensively collaborate in order to take the decisive steps toward definitively controlling the epidemic at the national level.
An honest evaluation of programs
This consultation provided a valuable forum for institutional and community partners to analyze in detail all the activities carried out over the past three months. Participants reviewed the overall performance of health programs, highlighting significant progress while also critically examining the factors that continue to hinder service effectiveness. Discussions focused on the entire care pathway, revealing the need to overcome the remaining obstacles to access to testing, the implementation of prevention measures, the administration of antiretroviral therapy, and continuity of care across all communities.

Faced with the operational constraints identified on the ground, the assembly agreed on a series of concrete measures aimed at transforming the organization and delivery of care throughout the region. Emphasis was placed on complementary actions to avoid the fragmentation of efforts and maximize the impact of allocated resources. Stakeholders stressed the critical importance of rapid and rigorous
transmission of activity data, essential for accurately guiding the response. Similarly, continuous monitoring was defined as the essential condition for measuring the actual progress of health indicators and adapting systems in real time.

Beyond mere technical analysis, this coordination meeting provided an opportunity to express a strong political and social commitment to people living with HIV and the most vulnerable populations. By collectively renewing their commitment to aligning their approaches with national strategic guidelines, the members of the Northwest Regional Technical Group reaffirmed the absolute priority given to equity in access to care. The coordinated mobilization of the entire network remains the key to guaranteeing comprehensive, inclusive, and non-discriminatory support throughout the region.
