Faced with the pressing challenges of global warming, the preservation of forest carbon represents the cornerstone of environmental resilience.

As the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP31) approaches, to be held from November 9 to 20, 2026 in Antalya, Turkey, citizen mobilization is taking shape far beyond the official negotiating halls. Driven by the crucial challenges of the energy transition for Africa and the imperatives of sustainable development, an inspiring dynamic has materialized on the ground through a unique experience combining sport, nature, and civic engagement.

Between mountain peaks and consciousness: Man at the heart of the ecosystem

At the heart of this initiative, our young people from the Mboa Hub and various actors committed to climate justice chose to unite body and mind. As they traversed the winding mountain paths, each step was intended as a direct reflection of the threats facing our planet. More than just a hike, this ascent

symbolized the difficulty, but also the absolute necessity, of correcting the global environmental trajectory.

Having reached the summit, far from the hustle and bustle of the cities, the participants took part in reflective and playful workshops. These moments of exchange reminded us of a fundamental truth: the protection of the forest and the environment is not just a matter of figures or diplomatic treaties, it is above all a profoundly human issue.

Forests and the environment: pillars of a just transition

As Turkey and Australia join forces to lead COP31 with strong mobilization from the private sector and the networks of the United Nations Global Compact, the voice of youth in the Global South resonates powerfully. Preserving forest ecosystems, the green lungs essential for carbon sequestration, is the most effective shield against climate change.

Yet, behind every threatened tree, the future of local communities and future generations hangs in the balance. Humankind, both primarily responsible for the environmental crisis and the sole architect of its resolution, must relearn how to coexist with its natural environment.

An essential citizen dynamic

This immersion in nature demonstrates that climate education is also experienced on the ground. By preparing the ground for COP31, these young ambassadors prove that local action fuels global advocacy. The future of our environment is taking shape here: in the sacred alliance between hard work, the wild beauty of our mountains, and the firm will to build a fairer future.
