The hospital training program is organizing a series of screening and awareness activities against hepatitis B and C from July 28 to 31, 2026, under the theme « Let’s Break It Down ».
On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day, celebrated this Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the Bamenda Regional Hospital announced, via a radio press release addressed to CRTV Bamenda, Radio Hot Cocoa and Ndefcam Radio, the launch of a series of activities led by the Hepatitis Committee of the establishment.
Under the theme « Let’s Break It Down, » this campaign aims to bring screening services closer to the people of the Northwest region, who are often avoided due to their cost. Specifically, hepatitis B and C screening is offered at half price, reduced to 1,500 FCFA. This incentive is designed to remove the financial barrier which, according to several healthcare professionals, largely explains why a majority of patients in Cameroon are unaware of their serological status.
People who test negative for hepatitis B are also offered vaccination, at a cost of 5,000 FCFA, in order to protect them permanently against the virus.
Beyond screening, the hospital implemented an awareness campaign directly at the facility’s entry points from July 28 to 31, supplemented by radio announcements broadcast to the general public during the same period. A scientific meeting is also
scheduled for July 30, bringing together medical staff to discuss the challenges related to the management of viral hepatitis.
In its press release, the management of the Bamenda Regional Hospital calls on the public to participate in large numbers, in order to give this day « the grandeur it deserves. » The document was sent, for information, to the Governor of the Northwest Region, the President of the Regional Assembly, the Mezam District Health Officer, the Mayor of Bamenda, and the Regional Delegate of Public Health.
