Building on the long-standing friendly relations between Yaoundé and Rabat, sectoral diplomacy has reached a new milestone. On July 21, 2026, the offices of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries (MINEPIA) hosted an important working session between Dr. Taïga and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco. This meeting reflects a shared commitment to strengthening South-South cooperation and promoting the modernization of the agricultural and livestock sectors in both nations.
The discussions focused primarily on the imperatives of food security and sovereignty, which both governments have elevated to the status of absolute priorities. Faced with global climate and economic challenges, the sharing of technical expertise and innovation are essential levers for securing supply chains and optimizing yields in the livestock and fisheries sectors.
Towards a synergy of actions anchored to the SND30
Seizing this diplomatic opportunity, Dr. Taïga outlined in detail the Cameroonian government’s strategic vision for the structural transformation of the animal, livestock, and agricultural sub-sector. This roadmap aligns perfectly with the guidelines of the National Development Strategy (SND30) and fully incorporates the requirements of the Integrated Import-Substitution Plan mandated by the President of the Republic. Strengthening local production capacities, improving animal health, developing aquaculture, and adding value to fishery products are among the areas where Moroccan expertise is highly valued. By facilitating the transfer of cutting-edge technologies and training local stakeholders, this renewed cooperation aims to equip Cameroon with a more resilient and competitive livestock industry that creates sustainable jobs.
This high-level audience thus marks a decisive step in strengthening economic and technical ties between Cameroon and Morocco, promising concrete and mutually beneficial outcomes for operators in the EPIA ecosystem of both countries
