Valued at over 2.5 billion CFA francs, the national plan to combat viral hepatitis in Cameroon structures its financial response around five major axes to achieve eradication by 2030.

The total cost of implementing this five-year plan amounts to exactly 2,557,202,735 FCFA, representing an annual average of nearly 51.1 million FCFA. Notably, monitoring and evaluation account for 51% of total resources due to the fact that almost all investment activities are linked to it. Looking at the strategic priorities in detail, Priority 2 (« Comprehensive Case Management ») absorbs the largest share of the budget at 46% (1,176,313,260 FCFA), guaranteeing access to subsidized care and treatment. This is followed by Priority 4 (« Strengthening the Health System »), which represents 29% of the budget (741,588,793 FCFA) and focuses on consolidating infrastructure and technical facilities. Axis 1 (“Prevention”) accounts for 17% of the budget (434,724,467 FCFA) through awareness campaigns, prophylaxis for pregnant women, and newborn vaccination. Finally, Axes 3 and 5

(“Epidemiological Surveillance and Good Governance”) complete the program, representing 8% of the total budget (204,576,217 FCFA).

Through this rigorous financial programming spread over the period, Cameroon is equipping itself with the essential means to overcome the economic and health obstacles of the disease.
