Originally scheduled for Friday, September 4, the national entrance examination for specialization (medicine, pharmacy and dentistry) is officially postponed to Sunday, September 6, 2026, by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo.
The National Entrance Examination for the Specialization Cycle in Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry, initially scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2026, will not be held on that date. It has been officially postponed to Sunday, September 6, 2026. This postponement, formalized by the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, is not simply a calendar adjustment. The new date, a Sunday, was chosen to facilitate logistical organization and allow candidates from all ten regions of Cameroon, and even from neighboring countries, to reach the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Yaoundé I under better conditions.
The written exams will therefore take place on this Sunday, a symbol of renewal, with the same high standards, the same syllabus, and the same rules. No other changes are to be noted: the content of the exams remains that of the sixth year of medical, pharmaceutical, and dental studies, and the jury, composed of professors, will be as uncompromising regarding the quality of the papers as it is regarding the candidates’ honesty.
But behind this postponement lies the true significance of this prestigious competitive examination, a veritable gateway to the most sought-after specialties within the Cameroonian healthcare system. Ministerial Decree No. 26/00771 of July 6, 2026, signed by the same minister, had already established the framework:
393 places are available for this session, divided between General Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, across three accredited institutions. In Yaoundé 1, future leading experts will be able to compete for positions in General Surgery (20 places), Orthopedics and Traumatology (20 places), Gynecology and Obstetrics (10 places), Internal Medicine and its numerous subspecialties (50 places), not to mention Medical Imaging (20 places), Ophthalmology (10 places), and ENT (13 places). The Faculties of Health Sciences in Buea and Douala complement the existing offerings with specializations tailored to regional needs. In Pharmacy, 30 places await successful candidates at Yaoundé 1, divided between Clinical, Industrial, and Hospital Pharmacy, while Douala offers an additional 15. Each candidate may apply to only one institution and one specialization, and admission is final: no deferrals are permitted.
The admission requirements remain unchanged. Applicants must be Cameroonian citizens or foreign nationals from countries with which Cameroon has a cooperation agreement, be no more than 35 years old, and hold a doctorate in medicine, pharmacy, or dentistry from an accredited national institution or an equivalent foreign qualification. Cameroonian civil servants retain their special status, while non-civil servant students must pay the required tuition fees. Registration remains exclusively online, via the concoursdauo.com platform, and the procedure is exactly the same: payment of the 50,000 FCFA application fee via Orange Money or MTN Mobile Money, completion of the online form, and submission of scanned documents – a stamped photo ID card, a birth certificate issued within the last six months, a certified copy of the diploma, certificates of completion for the Baccalaureate and Doctorate exams, employer authorization for civil servants, and a notarized financial commitment for non-civil servants.-Officials, and a recent medical certificate. Any photocopied, photographed, or illegible document will result in automatic rejection.
