These figures were unveiled yesterday during the 19th ordinary session of the Regional Council, which was devoted to the vote on and adoption of the 2025 accounts. These investments are aimed at improving access to healthcare for the population.
The Adamaoua Regional Council remains committed to improving healthcare provision in the region. In 2025, this Decentralized Territorial Authority (CTD) states that it allocated a total budget of 830 million CFA francs, of which 630 million came from the Ministry of Public Health’s grant to the public health sector, as part of the implementation of the powers transferred to it by the State.
This investment is in line with the provisions of the General Code on Decentralized Local Authorities, which, amongst other things, entrusts regional councils with the responsibility of supporting the development of healthcare infrastructure and improving the operating conditions of healthcare facilities. Through this significant budgetary allocation, the regional executive has helped to strengthen the healthcare system and improve the care provided to the population.
Key achievements include the support provided to regional hospitals, which have benefited from the establishment of Mother and Child Centers. These facilities aim to strengthen services dedicated to maternal and child health by providing a more suitable environment for antenatal consultations, deliveries and the care of newborns. The director of Ngaoundéré Regional Hospital, for example, was delighted during the Council President’s most recent visit to his facility. The infrastructure helps to reduce maternal and infant mortality, whilst improving the quality of care provided to patients.
District hospitals were not left out either. Each of them received a consignment of medical equipment worth around 50 million CFA francs. These purchases include various items of equipment designed to modernize technical facilities and meet the needs expressed by healthcare facilities. The aim is to enable healthcare staff to work in better conditions and to provide patients with more effective and safer care.
According to the Regional Council, these investments reflect a commitment to bringing high-quality healthcare services closer to the public, particularly in areas furthest from major urban centers. They are also part of a drive to gradually modernize the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
Beyond infrastructure and equipment, this investment policy reflects the importance attached to the health sector in the Adamaoua Regional Council’s development priorities. By strengthening the capacity of hospitals, the council aims to support the government’s efforts to create a healthcare system that is more efficient, more accessible and better suited to citizens’ needs.
Through this budget of 830 million CFA francs allocated in 2025, the Regional Council is thus reaffirming its ambition to make public health a key driver of human development and the well-being of the people of Adamawa.
