Between high technical performance, state-of-the-art equipment, and rigorous medical monitoring, the Cameroon Cup and the National Championship celebrate excellence.
The Cameroon Gymnastics Federation concluded its 2025/2026 season by jointly organizing the Cameroon Cup and the National Championship. This intensely competitive event was marked by a significantly improved technical level, the introduction of modern equipment, and preventative medical support that has become the secret to victory.
Over two thrilling days of competition, 14 clubs from six regions of the country competed in a magical atmosphere. The continued presence of a distinguished guest, Mr. Grégoire Owona, Minister of Labor and Social Security and Vice-President of the CNOSC (National Olympic and Sports Committee of Cameroon), attested to the significant institutional support now enjoyed by the sport: « I witnessed a truly wonderful competition, and I would like to sincerely congratulate the president of the federation and her entire team. » I extend my very special congratulations to the coaches, as training and mentoring these young children requires a considerable investment.
Medical support: the cornerstone of performance
Behind the spectacular leaps on the uneven bars and the precision of the floor exercises linked to a silent but decisive revolution: individualized medical monitoring. In a discipline demanding extreme flexibility, power, and the continuous repetition of high-risk movements, the medical care provided to athletes has enabled a decisive leap forward.
Injury prevention, personalized physiotherapy monitoring, and careful management of physical recovery have allowed gymnasts to approach competition with complete confidence. Less prone to muscle and joint injuries, the athletes were able to perform complex movements with remarkable consistency. This health shield provided the necessary peace of mind to master the new regulation equipment acquired this season by the federation. As President Anni Flore Yekel points out: « The new equipment has greatly motivated the gymnasts. » Their enthusiasm was directly reflected in the quality of their performances. We will increase the number of training sessions to allow them to further master this equipment”.
Words from champions: rigor, health, and ambition
On an individual level, the athletes’ performances delighted the audience. Lisa Mabar (AS Messamena), crowned Cameroonian champion and member of the national team, embodies this high standard: “I am proud of my medal, even though I remain demanding of myself on certain apparatus. My ambition is to work even harder to improve my scores at upcoming competitions.” A clear-sightedness shared by Loïc Martial, senior bronze medalist, who emphasized the impact of the comprehensive support offered by the federation.
Among the younger athletes, the future looks bright. Teneku Matthew Pierre, a brilliant individual and junior team gold medalist, paid a heartfelt tribute to his coaches: “I owe these medals to my coach who has been with me since I was very young, helps me improve, and restores my confidence in moments of doubt.” For her part, Azambe Lucie Grace, junior silver medalist in rhythmic gymnastics, sees this as an incentive to redouble her efforts to win gold next season.
As the federation now turns its attention to preparing for the Youth Olympic Games and holding its upcoming General Assembly, the combination of rigorous medical care, modernized equipment, and top-notch technical coaching pave a clear path to the highest international level. Cameroonian gymnastics has not only concluded a season; it has laid the solid foundations for a bright future.
